art.

Unnerved exhibition, GOMA (Gallery of Modern Art), Brisbane.

Ghost Town exhibition, GOMA, Brisbane,

Ron Mueck exhibition, GOMA, Brisbane,

GOMA, Brisbane.

Truly, this was probably the best, and my most favourite visit to the Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane so far. Every single exhibition featured in the gallery at the time, (late June) was marvelous.   I was originally only going to see Ron Mueck, but got caught up with everything else along the way.

The Unnerved exhibition was very modern, + exciting and I loved every minute of it!
The work of Ron Mueck was really amazing, my photography here doesn't do it justice! Nevertheless, his work is so life like and surreal, It really is hard to believe that someone sculptured the work entirely themselves.
The Ghost Town part in the Gallery was much fun, which makes sense really as it was meant for children. Building had been structured into a room but distorted in many ways. I loved the wallpaper in the photo showing, I wish I could have wallpaper in my room...
I particularly liked this phrase that was lined up parallel against one of the walls in the gallery. It left me with a feeling, I'm not quite sure what that feeling was, but it got to me, which I think is great, because a lot of the time, isn't that what art is supposed to do? Anyway with bodies morphed into letters made out of aluminium cans the phrase read-

'The route you take lies parallel to the words along these walls you slide along in search of that which might be said each step assured or bored or tremebling to discover finally that only that one foot had followed the other.'

I also visited the Hat Exhibition in the gallery opposite from this one. That in itself was amazing but unfortunately I was unable to take any photos. I am dying to go to the Tim Burton Exhibition in Melbourne before it ends... hopefully I will get the chance!
Has any of my lovely blog readers been to great art exhibitions lately??

my boy builds coffins,

My boy builds coffins with hammers and nails,
he doesn't build ships he has no use for sails.

My boy builds coffins for the rich and the poor,
Kings and Queens them all knocked on his door.

My boy builds coffins he makes them all day,
but it's not just for work and it isn't for play.

My boy builds coffins for better or worse,
some say it's a blessing some say it's a curse.

My boy builds coffins and I think it's a shame,
that when each ones been made he can't see them again.

Photos-Me. :)
Lyrics- Florence and the Machine.

I took these photos on an exursion down my street endeavouring to capture everyones curbside cleanups for my conceptual art assignment. My concern was 'junk' which soon turned into 'new life' and I quite enjoyed doing it. When you think about it, everyone labels anything that they think is no use to them anymore as 'junk', but really is it not just an object that has lost its use as one thing, but can be turned into another? It's about imagination. I havn't edited these photos at all, apart from some cropping and compressing, because I really liked how raw and organic they looked to begin with. Let me know what you think!

Also I have to apologise, yet again, for the huge delay in posting. I have had weeks of assignments and exams, however now I am free. Freedoms never felt so good.

What has everyone been up to?

Lots of love! B xx

I know you feel it too, these words get overused,

Helloo! So how is everyone? Sorry, this isn't really much of a worthy post but I really needed to ask if there were still some people that want to do the art exchange? It really isn't that hard, i just need more people! See the last few posts for more details and then leave me your email so I can send you what you have to do! I would be very happy if you sign up! (:

Also, has anyone else seen the Splendour in the Grass lineup? It is absolutley amazing. Seriously it is to die for...Lisa Mitchell, Washington, Whitely, Mumford and Sons, Florence and The Machine, Bluejuice, Kate Nash, Angus and Julia Stone. Ahhhh and SO many more. It is practically my playlist.
I hope you guys are all doing well, feel free to leave me a comment, I will return (:

You would be easier to read if you were more like a black and white newspaper,

Ok so i've joined this art project thing, where you send someone one piece of art (something handmade) e.g- a little drawing, a print, a comic or a zine, a photo, a felted creation, a beaded thing..., and you should recieve 36 pieces of art in return. How sweet is that? If anyone is interested in joining, just leave a comment with your email address, as I have to send this email on to 6 people. So the first six people i recieve a comment from, I will send you the email with all the details. Does that make sense? I hope so...

Well on other news anyway, somehow I went from having no polaroid camera's.. and desperately wanting just one, I end up with four! I am unsure to how many of them work just yet, but have ordered some type 80 film (extremely hard to find) for the colourpack cameras. I cant wait till I can use it! While roaming through a few opp shops yesterday, I also aquired some lovely photo frames for my room. So I am very happy with my purchases of late!

Right now though, I am not really feeling at my best, as i went to a movie night at a friends last night, and didnt get to sleep to about four. Hahaha, it was all good fun though, :)
How is everyone else in the blogosphere??

Arty types part II,

Ahh, I swoon over artists like these, I really do. There work... its all just so magnificent. Sorry if these art posts bore you... I'm working up to do an outfit post, but knowing me, I have no idea whether that will happen or not. I hope everyone out there in the blogging community is well. Ooo-h, and mum mentioned to me this afternoon about going to bunnings to get stuff that I need for my room- paint etc, even though it's most likely just going to be white again, but still it is a start right? Also if you havn't already, make sure you check out my Tumblr. (:
Lots and lots of love, chocolate and bunny hugs,'

Arty types,

Some lovely artists I have discovered whilst looking through my 2ndhand/marketbought copy of Curvy 2008. Wishing I was as talented as they are.., I'm quite enjoying senior art at school, it's quite an uplifting subject to do. Sorry for the lack of posts by the way, i've just been up to my head with school work... hopefully i will have a little bit of a break over the easter holidays though. Oh, and i have a formspring! Do visit and ask me a few, i would be delighted to answer. Let me know what you are up to.... xo. B

I heart pocket carnival !

I love recieving mail in my letterbox.
There just something about it that just makes it seem really special, you know?
Although the package it was in was pretty soaked because of the rain, i was sooo extremely delighted when i pulled my new pocket carnival pencil case out. It is incredibly gorgeous and i can't wait to make all my school friends jealous... :)
If you havnt already discovered Pocket Carnival, a good place to start is on etsy.
Penny Eager, the amazing artist behind her shop also has a blog here.
Thankyou Penny!
Hope everyone has a great weekend, apart from working both mornings (bright and early at 5 o'clock!) I'm hopefully seeing Alice In Wonderland on sunday. I can't wait!
Love always, B.

Dancing With Myself.

On the floor of Tokyo
Or down in London town to go, go
With the record selection
With the mirror reflection
I'm dancing with myself.

When there's no-one else in sight
In the crowded lonely night
Well I wait so long
For my love vibration
And I'm dancing with myself.

Oh dancing with myself
Oh dancing with myself
Well there's nothing to lose
And there's nothing to prove
I'll be dancing with myself.

I like this song..
even better when sung on  Glee,

& I like this Artist..
so beatuful,

X

Tara McPherson

I've been trying to figure out who my favourite artist is for a while, but now i can safely say it's Tara McPherson.
